COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – One of the best seasons in MSU Denver women's basketball history has been properly recognized.
Forward
Allie Navarette has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Player of the Year by league coaches.
And she isn't the only Roadrunner who will be getting some hardware.
Guard
Kendra Parra has been named the league's Co-Freshman of the Year.
And
Morgan Lewis earned her second straight All-RMAC honorable mention nod.
Navarette, a four-time league Offensive Player of the Week who was also named to the All-RMAC first team, leads the RMAC in points per game (21.2), free throws made (115) and free throws attempted (137). She's second in double-doubles (seven), defensive rebounds per game (6.8) and rebounds (155), and third in rebounds per game (8.6), fourth in field-goal percentage (50.8) and fifth in free throw percentage (83.9).
She is one of two players in the country averaging at least 20 points and eight rebounds while shooting better than 50 percent from the field and better than 70 percent from the free throw line.
A three-year star at Hawaii-Hilo before transferring to MSU Denver, Navarette has scored 1,767 career points, third among active Division II players, and also leads all players in Division II with 576 career made free throws and 695 career attempts while also ranking third in career scoring average (19.2), seventh with 39 double-doubles, ninth in free throw percentage at 82.9 and 10th in rebound average (9.1) and 11
th in rebounds (836).
Navarette, a 6-foot forward, is MSU Denver's second-ever RMAC Player of the Year for women's basketball, following Farrah McGee in 1997-98.
Parra is MSU Denver's fourth freshman of the year, following Paige Powers (2004-05), Jenessa Burke (2011-12) and Georgia Ohrdorf (2014-15).
The 5-8 guard leads all RMAC freshmen in scoring (8.9 points), rebounds (6.1) and free throw percentage (85.7) while ranking third among first-year players in assists (2.4). Among all players regardless of class, she is 15
th in the league in rebounds, 18
th in assists and fourth in free throw percentage.
Parra was even better in league play, ranking 11
th among all players in rebounds (6.6), 13
th in assists (2.7) and first in free throw percentage (89.5) while averaging 9.2 points.
Lewis averages 11.9 points and ranks third in the RMAC with 8.8 rebounds per game.
