@MSUDenverWBB: Navarette Reaches 2,000, Roadrunners Win 7th Straight

MSU Denver shows balance with fourth win in five games

Box Score LAS VEGAS, N.M. – Allie Navarette scored 19 points to up her career total to a spectacular 2,008 and MSU Denver extended its longest winning streak in four years to seven games with a 75-56 victory Saturday night at New Mexico Highlands.

Navarette made 8 of 9 from the field and 3 of 4 from the free throw line while also adding four rebounds and two blocked shots. She also has 954 career rebounds.

"Allie did what Allie does," MSU Denver coach Tanya Haave said. "She's a great scorer. I mean, 2,000 points, that's really, really good."

Navarette scored 1,398 points in three seasons at Hawaii-Hilo and now has 610 points in her second season with the Roadrunners. She is one of four active Division II players with more than 2,000 points.

Maggie Justinak added 11 points and Jaela Richardson had eight points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots for the Roadrunners, who had 10 players score -- including six with at least seven points.

MSU Denver improved to 12-4 overall and 8-3 for sole possession of fourth place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The Roadrunners' winning streak is their longest since winning nine straight from Jan. 26 through Feb. 27, 2018. They've won five straight road games (all in the last eight days), matching their best streak on the road since a six-game run from Jan. 13 through Feb. 18, 2012.

"Our fourth game in five days on the road, we started off slow but we were able to do enough get ahead and stay there," Haave said. "Then we made a break in the third quarter and kept it there.

"To win five in a row on the road is huge for us. Now we get to come back home."

Tosjanae Bonds had eight points and three steals, capping a terrific four-game week that included a career-best six steals Friday at UCCS.

Mariana Silva Pereira and Anais Bonnemaison each scored a career-best seven points.

"Annais did some really great things," Haave said. "She gave us that energy we needed defending and running the floor. And Mariana was really good, did a great job of finding the open player.

"You need to develop the depth, and we're getting to a point where we have a lot of options. They both gave us a great lift."
