@MSUDenverWGOLF: Bharkhada Picks Up Top-10 Finish

Botero leads team with second-round 80

PUEBLO, Colo. – Vaijayanti Bharkhada earned her first top-10 finish of the season at the Proal Invitational, as her second-round score of 10-over par 82 helped her tie for eighth in the 58-player field.

Bharkhada had shot 75 in Monday's first round.

"We are proud of V for the top 10 finish," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said. "She hit great shots both rounds."

Scores soared across the board on a windy Tuesday in Pueblo, and the Roadrunners slid one spot in the team standings to place fifth among 10 teams. After shooting a four-player total of 314 on Monday, the Roadrunners shot 332 on Tuesday at the 6,190-yard Pueblo Country Club.

"We beat ourselves today," Ferguson said. "It was a disappointing way to finish that event. We let the windy conditions get the best of us."

Isabel Botero did shoot 80, one stroke better than her first-round score, on a day when only eight players shot in the 70s. Botero finished tied for 16th overall.

Winnie Shaw shot 84 and Mackenzie Carpenter shot 86. After a first-round 77, Carpenter wound up tied for 21st overall.

MSU Denver wraps up the fall portion of its schedule next week at the Nick Turner Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
