MSU Denver hasn't played in the league's title game since 2014

DENVER – The MSU Denver women's soccer team will attempt to reach the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament finals for the first time since 2014 on Wednesday.

The Roadrunners (12-3-4) will head to Golden, Colo., to face ninth-ranked Colorado School of Mines (14-1-3), the tournament's top seed, at 6 p.m.

MSU Denver fans making the short drive over are encouraged to wear red to support the team.

The teams played to a 3-3 tie in the regular-season meeting on Sept. 25 at the Assembly Athletic Complex. The Roadrunners a 0-9-4 against Mines, dating to a 3-1 win on Nov. 17, 2013.

MSU Denver had three players named to the All-RMAC first team on Tuesday, with forward Jaimy Sawaged, midfielder Luna Garcia and defender Elli Zimmer all honored in voting by league coaches. It's the first time since 2008 that MSU Denver has had more than two All-RMAC first team selections.

Sawaged leads the team and is third in the RMAC with nine goals. Garcia and Zimmer each have four goals. Garica has four assists and Sawaged has three.

Zimmer has helped lead an MSU Denver defense that has posted 12 shutouts and ranks 15th in Division II with a league-best 0.53 goals-against average. The team's 12 clean sheets matches the 2009 team's as the most for the program since posting 15 shutouts in 2008.
