Title IX Series: Molock Dominated Defensively

She still has twice as many steals as anyone in program history and is among the program's all-time scoring leaders

DENVER – MSU Denver has for decades been a leader in providing equal opportunities for women in intercollegiate athletics.

Today is the 25th installment of a 52-part tribute by Roadrunners Athletics to pioneers and leaders in intercollegiate athletics at MSU Denver.

Each Thursday, a key female figure in Roadrunners athletics history will be recognized.

Today, basketball star Natasha Molock is featured.

Molock starred at MSU Denver in the early 2000s. Even now, 17 years after her playing career ended, no one has had half as many as her program record of 455 career steals, and she is still fifth in career points (1,301) and fourth in assists (367). Her steals totals from her sophomore (112), junior (140) and senior seasons (114) still rank as the top three single-season totals in program history. She is ninth in Division II history in career steals and 19th with 4.0 steals per game. She led Division II with 5.0 steals per game in the 2003-04 season.

Molock was a first team All-RMAC selection in the 2004-05 season and was three-time All-East Division pick. She was also selected to the 2005 RMAC Shootout All-Tournament team, helping the Roadrunners to the conference tournament championship and the fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in school history. As a senior, she averaged 11.9 points, 4.6 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.7 steals.

She was inducted into the Roadrunners Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011.

Title IX, the groundbreaking law prohibiting sex-based discrimination at schools that receive funding from the federal government, went into effect just over 50 years ago – on June 23, 1972.
