DENVER – The MSU Denver women's basketball team is on a roll and is seeking to keep it going.
The Roadrunners have won 10 of their last 11 games, with three of the wins over teams that were either nationally ranked or receiving votes in the national poll, to improve to 15-5 overall and 11-4 for a fourth-place tie in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
This week MSU Denver plays host to Colorado Christian (6-14, 3-11) on Tuesday at 5 p.m. before traveling to South Dakota Mines (3-19, 3-13) for a 5:30 p.m. game Thursday.
Tuesday's game is a Play4Kay Game, with money raised to be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in honor of the legendary former coach.
Despite the modest records of their opponents, MSU Denver is expecting to be challenged once again.
"The danger is looking at records and think you're going to win easily," Haave said. "No. All these games now are tough games. Everyone is playing better. And everyone is battling for a spot in the conference tournament."
And, after all, Colorado Christian beat the Roadrunners 70-63 in Lakewood, Colo., on Dec. 14. That put the Roadrunners at 5-4 overall and just 1-3 in the RMAC.
"We didn't play well at Colorado Christian, and they're playing a lot better now than they were then," Haave said. "So it's going to be another tough game – all the games right now are tough."
