PALM DESERT, Calif. – MSU Denver made an eight-stroke improvement from the opening round and briefly surged to fourth place on Friday, but ultimately settled for a sixth-place finish at the Augustana (S.D.) Spring Fling women's golf tournament.
"This was a very rough showing," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said after her team's first tournament of the spring portion of the schedule. "This team is capable of so much more. We need to reset and get ready for next weekend."
Isabel Botero turned in MSU Denver's best round of the day, a 9-over-par 81 at the 6,003-yard Desert Willow Golf Resort course. Botero finished the tournament tied for 20
th at 22-over.
Winnie Shaw tied for 28
th and
Courtney Lawler tied for 31
st.
MSU Denver shot 52-over 340 on Friday to finish the tournament at 112-over 688.
The Roadrunners play again March 20 and 21 at the El Cheapo Classic in Pueblo, Colo.
