PUEBLO, Colo. – Led by
Winnie Shaw's 36-hole total of 10-over-par 154, MSU Denver finished ninth on Sunday at the Pack Classic in women's golf.
The tournament, originally scheduled for two days, was turned into a one-day event to avoid expected inclement weather on Monday.
Shaw shot 76-78-154 on the 6,000-yard, par-72 Walking Stick Golf Course to tie for 14
th in the 81-player field.
"Overall we saw a big improvement from the last tournament," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said. "Winnie played solid for all 36 holes. She's really carrying herself so much better on the course right now."
MSU Denver finished at 64-over 640 after shooting 318-322. The Roadrunners were five strokes behind eighth-place UCCS, ranked 44
th nationally, in the 15-team field.
Sydney Eye tied for 32
nd after carding 80-79-159.
"Syd had a much better second round today too," Ferguson said. "She's so close to really going low."
Isabel Botero and
Mackenzie Carpenter were among those tied for 48
th at 20-over.
"As a team we did so many things well," Ferguson said. "I think the girls just got tired. We aren't used to 36 holes and it showed."
