BOULDER CITY, Nev. – MSU Denver's
Vaijayanti Bharkhada shot a second straight round of 1-over par 73 and is tied for fifth after the second day of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship.
Bharkhada had five birdies in her round at the 6,072-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club and is three strokes out of second place heading into Tuesday's final round.
"V is playing great so far this week," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said. "She's playing steady golf and giving herself a lot of good opportunities. She needs one more good round and is right there in this tournament."
As a team, MSU Denver slipped one spot to sixth after compiling a four-player score of 24-over 312 after Sunday's opening 307. The Roadrunners are nine shots out of third.
Sydney Eye shot 6-over 78 on Monday for the Roadrunners' second-best score of the day.
"Syd played well today," Ferguson said. "And aside from the last few holes, she played really well."
Isabel Botero shot 80 and is now tied for 20
th overall at 10-over. Eye is 27
th for the tournament at 13-over.
Winnie Shaw and
Mackenzie Carpenter were both 9-over on Monday and are among the players tied for 40
th overall at 18-over.
"As a team, we just didn't do what we needed to do for our third and fourth scores," Ferguson said. "We have one more day to make a move up the leaderboard. We're looking forward to finishing the season on a strong note tomorrow."
