INDIANAPOLIS – The MSU Denver baseball team has taken over sole possession of fifth place in the official South Central Region rankings by the NCAA.
Regional rankings are eventually used to determine the at-large qualifiers for the regional tournament that serves as the opening rounds for the NCAA Tournament.
The champions of the Rocky Mountain Athletic and Lone Star Conference Tournaments earn automatic bids to the regional tournament, with the remaining four at-large qualifiers invited based on their regional ranking.
MSU Denver had been tied for fifth with Lubbock Christian (Texas) last week, but even though LCU won twice over seventh-ranked West Texas A&M it dropped into sixth. MSU Denver was off last week.
