Title IX Series: Glenn Leads Standout Volleyball Program

Roadrunners have won 40 straight regular-season conference matches

DENVER – MSU Denver has for decades been a leader in providing equal opportunities for women in intercollegiate athletics.

Today is the 50th installment of a 52-part tribute by Roadrunners Athletics to pioneers and leaders in intercollegiate athletics at MSU Denver. The series coincides with the passage of Title IX.

Each Thursday, a key female figure in Roadrunners athletics history will be recognized.

Today, volleyball coach Jenny Glenn is featured.

In seven seasons as MSU Denver's head coach, Glenn has led the Roadrunners to unprecedented heights, including spending nine weeks (five in 2021, four in 2022) as the No. 1-ranked team in NCAA Division II. MSU Denver has been No. 3 in the final national poll in each of the last three seasons.

The Roadrunners have played host to the NCAA South Central Regional as the top seed each of the past two seasons, reaching the regional final each time. While going 30-2 last season, the Roadrunners lost only to the two teams that played in the Division II championship match – West Texas A&M and Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.).

MSU Denver is currently riding a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference-record 40-match winning streak in regular-season league play, dating to the 2020 season (which was played in early 2021 due to COVID-19). The streak includes the second and third times the Roadrunners have gone 18-0 in regular-season RMAC play. That includes Glenn's first season, in 2016.

The Roadrunners have had 24-match winning streaks in each of the last two seasons while compiling an overall mark of 58-6.

Glenn has won the RMAC Coach of the Year award three times at MSU Denver, and was the AVCA South Central Region Coach of the Year as well as Mile High Sports magazine's College Coach of the Year in 2021. She was also the region coach of the year in 2016.

As the Roadrunners' coach, Glenn's teams have gone 166-40 overall, including a stunning 112-8 mark in RMAC regular-season play. Her overall winning percentage of .806 and conference winning percentage of .933 are the best in the program's history.

The Roadrunners are expected to be highly-ranked once again when the 2023 season starts this fall.

Title IX, the groundbreaking law prohibiting sex-based discrimination at schools that receive funding from the federal government, went into effect just over 50 years ago – on June 23, 1972.
