COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The MSU Denver tennis program heads into Sunday's second day of the Colorado College Invitational with four players, including three from the women's team, getting set to play semifinal matches.
 
Juho Kantola won twice to advance to the Men's A semifinals, while for the women both Emily Hafner and Lilly Stienemeier have reached the A semifinals and Kambra Roles is in the B semifinals of the season-opening tournament.
 
MSU Denver also has two teams alive in the women's A doubles draw, as the team of Hafner and Courtenay Leonard and the pairing of Mikayla McKenzie and Monica Guarin playing in separate Sunday semifinals.
 
In the men's B doubles draw, Roadrunners freshmen Alessandro Munoz and Shane Garner have reached the semifinals.
 
"Overall, it was a good first day," new MSU Denver coach Bruno Campos said. "I saw a lot of positive things, and room for improvement in certain areas. Our student-athletes gave their all, and I am proud of them. The season is super long, and we are on the right path." 
 
MSU Denver had an unfortunate matchup in the quarterfinals of the men's A Draw as Kantola and Jeanloup Auzias – the team's top two players last season – squared off. Kantola who played in the No. 2 position behind Auzias last year, prevailed in a 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5) thriller.
