DALLAS – MSU Denver cross country capped off a strong weekend on Saturday with standout performances at the Old Glory Gallop, hosted by Dallas Baptist University. Running in humid Texas conditions against deep Division II competition, both the Roadrunner men's and women's teams delivered solid showings to close out their split-squad weekend after Friday's UCCS Open in Colorado Springs.
On the women's side they finished 5th overall with 150 points, out of 40 teams competing. The men finished 3rd overall out of 40 teams, totaling 121 points, an impresive showing for both sides before the conference championships.
In the women's 5K, Constance O'Neal led the way for MSU Denver, placing 8th overall with a time of 17 minutes, 33.47 seconds, continuing her consistent front-running form. Paige Tack wasn't far behind, finishing 10th in 17:54.95 to give the Roadrunners two top-10 finishers.
Tanis Chavez ran well to place 28th in 18:23.54, followed by Peyton Meier in 44th with a time of 18:39.17. Ellie Shaw rounded out the scoring five in 68th at 19:06.85, with Abi Read (84th, 19:14.55) and Payton Rusk (85th, 19:15.09) close behind to complete the strong team effort.
On the men's side, the Roadrunners packed tightly near the front of the field. Jonathan Duran led the charge with a 14th-place finish, clocking 24:34.44, just ahead of his brother Jordan Duran, who finished 21st in 24:39.47.
Cian Nagle (25th, 24:42.65) and Darren Hayden (27th, 24:44.91) were right behind, giving MSU Denver four runners in the top 30. Shota Yabuuchi rounded out the scoring group in 42nd with a time of 25:02.39, while Charlie Geisler (89th, 25:49.00) and Eisen Dacus (164th, 26:40.17) completed the lineup.
The performances in Dallas, combined with Friday's results in Colorado Springs, showed both squads continue to build momentum heading into the RMAC Championships in two weeks.
