DENVER – MSU Denver men's soccer extended its unbeaten streak to seven matches and earned its second straight victory with a 2-1 win over South Dakota Mines on Friday afternoon at the Assembly Athletic Complex. The Roadrunners improved to 5-2-5 overall and 3-0-1 in RMAC play, while the
Hardrockers dropped to 6-4-2 overall and 1-4-0 in the RMAC.
The win marked the Roadrunners' 14th consecutive victory over South Dakota Mines, a streak that dates back to 2016, as MSU Denver remained unbeaten against the Hardrockers in program history.
MSU Denver struck first in the 29th minute when Rhyson Johnston found the back of the net off a feed from Charlie Lucero, tallying his second career goal to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 halftime lead.
After a South Dakota Mines penalty kick evened the score in the 53rd minute, MSU Denver responded late, as Noah Miller converted a chance in the 85th minute — assisted by Matt Vogel — to score his first career goal as a Roadrunner and secure the win.
The Roadrunners controlled play throughout, outshooting the Hardrockers 14-5 and holding a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Nick McNeil made one save in the victory, while the back line held strong to preserve the result.
