DENVER — The MSU Denver men's soccer team fell 1–0 to Westminster on Friday night at the Assembly Athletic Complex.
The Roadrunners dropped to 7-4-5 overall and 5-2-1 in RMAC play, while Westminster improved to 8-5-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the conference.
Westminster's James Miles netted the lone goal in the 20th minute, finishing off an assist from Jack Cardwell. From there, MSU Denver pushed hard for the equalizer, outshooting the Griffins 12–5 and earning six corner kicks to Westminster's six, but couldn't find the back of the net.
Matt Vogel led the Roadrunners with three shots on goal, while Charlie Matsumoto added another quality chance. Goalkeeper Nick McNeil made two saves in the effort.
The setback marks MSU Denver's second straight loss after a nine-match unbeaten streak, but the Roadrunners remain firmly in contention near the top of the RMAC standings heading into the final week of the regular season.
MSU Denver will look to rebound quickly when it travels to Grand Junction on Sunday for a pivotal 2:30 p.m. matchup against Colorado Mesa, a contest that could play a key role in determining a top-two seed in the upcoming RMAC Tournament.
