DENVER -- MSU Denver got back to its hot-hitting ways by putting up 32 runs in first two games of home series vs Sioux Falls Cougars.
It was a day of celebration, as head coach
Ryan Strain picked up wins 200 and 201 for the MSU Denver Roadrunners on Saturday. Coach showed his gratitude to the staff, current, and former players, mentioning that he wouldn't have been able to reach that number without all their hard work and willingness to buy into the culture.
In game one of the series, MSU Denver put up eight runs in the second inning and followed that with four in the third to lead 12-0 after three innings.
Cam Yuran got the party started as the senior led off the second inning with a solo homer only to get a second plate appearance. He would not disappoint in that second at-bat, as he hit another home run, this time a two-run shot over the right field wall. He now sits with 45 career home runs and tied Rusty Befus for third all-time in program history.
Easton Admundson added a two-run double in the second and finished the game with five RBI and finished the day going 4-for-8 with four runs scored, two doubles, a home run and seven runs driven.
Nolan Livsey was on the mound and gave the Roadrunners four strong innings before being replaced in the fifth, as he surrendered two runs to the Cougars. Livsey would earn his second win on the season.
In game two it was
Riley Roskopf's domination on the mound that helped MSU Denver to secure the 15-0 victory in which they scored in every inning. Roskopf went 6 ⅓ innings before finally allowing the first run to the Cougars. The junior from Chino Hills nearly went the distance and finished with seven strikeouts on four hits and two walks.
Offensively, the Roadrunners saw four players hit home runs, including
Royce Vandine who hit two of them. He finished the day going 3-for-4, with six RBI and a grand slam in the fourth inning.
They have another two chances to pick up wins with game three coming Sunday and game four on Monday.
