DENVER -- The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced their All-Academic teams and athletes Monday afternoon. MSU Denver Roadrunners Kenny Greene,
Josiah Billington, and
Maya Ries were all tabbed as individuals to the All-Academic teams, while both the men's and women's team as a whole earned a spot on the all-academic team list.
In order to qualify for an All-Academic individual nomination, you must carry at least a 3.25 GPA during the academic year along with finishing top-50 in an event on the TFRRS's list.
Kenny Greene had a spectacular season in both the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. In the outdoor season, the sophomore earned the gold medal in the 200 meters, while finishing in fourth place in the 400 meters. Greene is earning his degree in Criminal Justice.
Josiah Billington earned the silver medal at the RMAC Outdoor Track and Field championships, reaching 7.32 meters in the men's long jump. Billington is working on his Marketing degree.
Maya Ries took home the bronze medal in the 60-meter hurdles at the RMAC Indoor Track and Field championships. Ries is earning her degree in Fine Arts.
As a team, the MSU Denver women's program earned a 3.362 GPA for the semester earning a spot on the Division II track and field all-academic team. The men's team earned a 3.099 GPA earning a spot on the all-academic team list.
For a team to earn a spot on the all-academic team list, the squad must accumulate a 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale.
