GOLDEN, Colo. — MSU Denver battled back twice on Thursday night to earn a 2-2 draw at Colorado School of Mines, moving the Roadrunners' record to 1-2-4 on the season.
The Roadrunners got their first goals of the year from Charlie Matsumoto and Charlie Lucero. Matsumoto struck in the 21st minute, finishing a cross from Matt Vogel to even the match at 1-1.
After Mines retook the lead, Lucero found the equalizer in the 51st minute, cleaning up a rebound off a shot from Adan Perez.
Perez has now recorded a point in four of the last five games and leads the Roadrunners with six points on the season (two goals, two assists). His consistent playmaking has made him the focal point of the MSU Denver attack.
Overall, the Roadrunners finished with a 14-11 edge in shots and forced the Orediggers' goalkeeper into eight saves, but neither side could break through for a winner in the final 40 minutes.
MSU Denver will be back in action on Sunday night at 7 p.m., when they travel to face Colorado Christian in Lakewood.
