LAKEWOOD, Colo. — MSU Denver picked up its first win in more than two weeks on Sunday, earning a 1-0 road victory over Colorado Christian at Trailblazer Stadium.
The Roadrunners (now 2-2-4) secured their first win since Sept. 11 against Dominican, with Matt Vogel providing the difference on a penalty kick in the 46th minute. The tally was Vogel's first goal of the season and the second of his career.
Vogel has been a bright spot in recent matches, recording three points over the last two contests to spark MSU Denver's attack.
MSU Denver controlled much of the match, outshooting Colorado Christian 16-5 and piling up a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Cougars played the final 35 minutes down a man after a red card in the 55th minute, but the Roadrunners' defense and goalkeeper Nick McNeil (four saves) made sure the lead held.
Head coach Nick Kirchhof and his squad have won their last four matchups against the Cougars, pushing the all-time program record against them to 23-2 overall.
The Roadrunners will turn their attention to RMAC play, opening their conference schedule on the road at Adams State on Friday at 3 p.m. MT.
