@MSUDenverBSB: Jackson's Perfect Day at the Plate Sparks Roadrunners Doubleheader Sweep

DENVER — MSU Denver kept the momentum rolling on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Adams State in a doubleheader behind power at the plate and lockdown pitching late in games. With the pair of wins, the Roadrunners improve to 23-6 overall and a perfect 11-0 in RMAC play, extending their winning streak to nine games.

GAME ONE: MSU Denver 6, Adams State 5
MSU Denver wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to an early lead and then holding off a mid-game push from Adams State to secure the opener.

Noah Wicks ignited the offense in the first inning, blasting a two-run home run to give the Roadrunners a quick 2-0 advantage. An inning later, Luka Ruljancich delivered one of the most impressive at-bats of the day, battling through a 10-pitch sequence before launching his first home run of the season to extend the lead to 4-0.

The second inning surge didn't stop there. River Jackson lined an RBI single to make it 5-0, and Wicks struck again—this time with an RBI triple—to cap a four-run frame and give MSU Denver a commanding 6-0 lead.

Adams State responded with five runs across the third and fifth innings to tighten things up, but the Roadrunners bullpen slammed the door when it mattered most. Joey Adge bridged the gap before Carter Swan took over and dominated, tossing two shutout innings to earn his fourth save of the season.

Alejandro Maltos-Garcia earned the win, improving to 3-1 after working four innings with three strikeouts.

At the plate, the Roadrunners were led by:

GAME TWO: MSU Denver 9, Adams State 4
Game two followed a similar script—fast start, steady offense, and strong pitching to finish it off.

Michael Deitz provided the early fireworks, crushing a three-run homer in the first inning—his team-leading eighth of the season—to put MSU Denver up 3-0. The Roadrunners continued to apply pressure, capitalizing on wild pitches and timely hitting to build their lead.

River Jackson scored on a wild pitch before Marques Abulhosn added an RBI single in the fourth to make it 5-2. Brooks Rasmussen later crossed the plate on another wild pitch, and Jackson delivered again with an RBI single to stretch the advantage to 7-2.

Ruljancich stayed hot at the plate, lacing an RBI double as part of a two-run fifth inning that pushed the lead to 9-3 and effectively put the game out of reach.

Sam Coffman turned in a strong outing on the mound, earning the win and improving to 2-0 after going six innings, allowing just two earned runs while striking out six.

Top performers included:

River Jackson was the story of the day, going a perfect 6-for-6 across both games. He has now recorded multiple hits in six straight games and is scorching hot at the plate, going 17-for-25 with 10 runs and 8 RBIs during that stretch.

The Roadrunners combined explosive early offense with clutch late-game pitching in game one and a complete, balanced performance in game two.

With nine straight wins and an unblemished conference record, MSU Denver will look for the series sweep tomorrow afternoon.
