GOLDEN, Colo. – Wrapping up a busy weekend of competition, MSU Denver Outdoor Track & Field turned in a strong showing Saturday at the Kit Mayer Classic, highlighted by a podium finish and several top-10 performances against deep fields.
Leading the way for the Roadrunners was Kenny Greene, who continued his standout outdoor season with a second-place finish in the men's 400 meters. Greene clocked in at 47.57, finishing as the runner-up in a field of 29 and pacing a solid group performance for MSU Denver. Teammates Kevin Tashie (49.07) and Jacob Simpson (50.33) added depth in the event, placing seventh and 14th, respectively.
In distance action, Carlos Cheruiyot delivered a strong effort in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing fourth out of 29 runners with a time of 9:42.28. Charlie Geisler (10:04.29) and Wells Stucker (10:17.32) also competed in the event, placing 17th and 20th.
The Roadrunners saw multiple top-10 finishes in the men's 1,500 meters, as Darren Hayden led the group with a sixth-place time of 3:56.20. Cian Nagle followed closely in eighth at 4:00.84, while Parker Davidson rounded out the trio in 16th (4:06.70) in a field of 36 competitors.
In the men's 800 meters, Eisen Dacus posted a time of 1:56.13 to finish ninth overall.
On the women's side, Rachel Wheeler recorded a top-half finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing seventh in 12:20.38. Avanti Wadhwa added a fifth-place finish in the 1,500 meters, crossing the line in 4:52.33.
The Roadrunners also competed in the women's 10,000 meters, where Payton Rusk led MSU Denver with an 11th-place finish (40:54.37), followed by Alexandra Doumanov in 15th (42:48.20). In the women's 800 meters, Piper Loeks posted a time of 2:45.38.
MSU Denver closes out a demanding weekend of competition with momentum, highlighted by Greene's podium performance and a collection of strong finishes across distance and middle-distance events.
