BOULDER CITY, Nev. – MSU Denver Women's Golf opened play at the RMAC Championship Tournament on Sunday afternoon with a strong start, sitting fifth out of 10 teams after round one at +11 (299).
The day belonged to Neige Dunn, who delivered one of the best rounds of the season for the Roadrunners. Dunn fired a 2-under 70 to sit tied for first on the individual leaderboard after 18 holes. Her round marks the second-lowest score by a Roadrunner this season, trailing only her own 69 (-2) from the fall campaign.
Dunn's consistency throughout the round proved to be the difference, as she navigated the course with composure and capitalized on scoring opportunities to position herself at the top heading into Monday.
MSU Denver saw solid contributions throughout the lineup to round out the team score. Rien Solodan finished just over par with a 73 (+1), providing a key score to keep the Roadrunners in the mix.
Lauren Mack and Izabella Pesicka each carded rounds of 78 (+6), while Sophia Honeyman added an 85 (+13). Jordyn Horsley rounded out the lineup with an 86 (+14).
As a team, the Roadrunners positioned themselves firmly in the middle of the standings with two rounds remaining, within striking distance of moving up the leaderboard.
MSU Denver will return to the course Monday for round two of the three-day RMAC Championship Tournament, looking to build on Sunday's momentum and close the gap on the teams ahead.
