FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Brandon Simpson had three personal bests, setting a school record in the hammer throw and improving his status as MSU Denver's second-best individual in both the javelin and discus, to lead the Roadrunners on Sunday at the Fum McGraw Power Meet.
Simpson placed 11
th in the hammer with an effort of 43.80 meters (143 feet, 8 inches), improving upon his previous school record of 41.34 that he set just two days earlier. He was also seventh in the javelin with a toss of 51.58 (169-3) and was 16
th in the discus at 39.45 (129-5). He continues to approach the school record in the javelin (51.71) and discus (39.85) – those records were set in 1971 and 1982, respectively.
Also of note for the Roadrunners,
PJ Guidry was third in the men's triple jump at 14.15 (46-5 ¼),
Brooklynn Jones was fifth in the women's javelin at 38.06 (124-10), and
Teagan Garand was third in the women's 200 meters (26.50 seconds) as well as 11
th in the javelin at 30.19 (99-0).
