The Metro State women's basketball team (1-5) could not hold off a late game surge from Montana State-Billings and fell, 65-61, Saturday afternoon in Billings, Montana.
The 'Runners started the game struggling on offense, falling behind 20-12 with 12 minutes remaining in the first half. But, MSCD went on a 23-14 run to close the half and take a 35-34 lead. The teams battled back and forth in the second half, with neither gaining a lead of more than four points. With the score tied 60-60, the 'Runners took a one point lead on a free throw by Kiley Gill, but then allowed the Yellowjackets five straight points to finish the game.
Rae Bean led MSCD with a career high 17 points, followed by Sharaya Selsor and Jasmine Cervantes with 12 points apiece.
Metro State returns to Colorado to begin Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play at Adams State, Friday at 6 p.m.
