DURANGO, Colo. - Jen Thomas (Aurora, Colo./Greeley West H.S.)' goal in the 84th minute gave No. 6 Metro State a 1-0 victory over No. 11 Fort Lewis on Sunday in women's soccer to stun the Skyhawks at home in Durango. The Roadrunners improved to 13-1-0 overall this season and 10-0-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, maintaining their 1.5-game lead over Colorado Mines. Fort Lewis entered the day tied with Mines and dropped to 11-2-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the RMAC.

Becca Mays (San Antonio, Texas/Madison H.S.)' pass led her in front of the FLC defense.
Becca Maloney (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy) earned the shutout in the net for the Roadrunners with three saves. It was her fourth solo shutout this season and Metro State's sixth as a team. Maloney started in goal in each of the team's other two shutouts.
Maloney made all three of her saves in the first half, keeping the game scoreless at the intermission as the Skyhawks outshot Metro State 3-2 in the first half. All five first-half shots for both teams were on net.
Metro State played a much stronger second half as Thomas led the attack. She had two shots go high and another hit the crossbar in the first 19 minutes of the second half. But she finally found the back of the net in the 84th minute.
A strong Roadrunner defense held Fort Lewis to just one shot attempt in the second half, that coming in the 49th minute.
For the game, Metro State outshot FLC 7-4 and had a 3-1 advantage on corner kicks.
The Roadrunners travel to Colorado Christian on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game in Lakewood.
