Robinson's Shutout Carries Roadrunners to Win Over Mary

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Christie Robinson scattered six hits as she earned a 4-0 victory over the University of Mary (N.D.) in game one on Sunday at the RMAC/NSIC Crossover in Colorado Springs. The Roadrunners are now 5-0 at the tournament and 7-2 this spring. Metro State's final game began at 3 p.m. against Wayne State (Neb.).

After hitting eight home runs in two games yesterday, it was the pitching and defense's turn to carry the load. Robinson threw all seven innings, striking out seven for her first shutout this season.

Metro State's offense was held to 10 hits, its lowest output since nine against Augustana (S.D.) in the first game on Friday. Amber Roundtree, Sarah Rusch, Tara Mickelson and Lauren Hainlen each had two hits.

The Roadrunners took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third on RBI singles by Rusch and Mickelson.

Roundtree stretched the lead to 3-0 with an RBI single, scoring Hainlen in the fourth.

Metro State added its final run in the sixth as Hainlen scored again on a double by Roundtree.
