DENVER — Another national honor rolled in for MSU Denver softball Wednesday afternoon as senior designated player Cheyenne Prieto was named a D2CCA Second Team All-American following one of the most dominant offensive seasons in program history.
The recognition marked Prieto's second All-America honor of the day after she was also named an NFCA Second Team All-American earlier Wednesday morning, further cementing her place among the elite players in NCAA Division II softball.
Prieto's remarkable postseason awards haul now includes First Team All-RMAC honors, First Team D2CCA All-South Central Region recognition, First Team NFCA All-South Central Region honors and two national All-America selections.
The senior established herself as one of the nation's premier hitters throughout the 2026 season, producing historic numbers while leading the Roadrunners offensively all spring.
Prieto led the RMAC in both on-base percentage (.597) and OPS (1.408) while ranking second in batting average (.476) and third in slugging percentage (.811). She also finished among the conference leaders in hits, home runs and walks, including a conference-best 42 walks during the season.
Her combination of power, consistency and plate discipline made her one of the toughest hitters to retire in Division II and helped drive the Roadrunners offense throughout the year.
The historic season also rewrote portions of the MSU Denver record book.
Prieto's .597 on-base percentage established a new single-season program record, while her 42 walks also set a new school mark. Additionally, her .476 batting average ranks third all-time in program history and her .811 slugging percentage ranks fifth among the best single-season marks ever recorded by a Roadrunner.
The D2CCA All-America honor added another milestone to a season already filled with accolades and recognition, placing Prieto among the top players nationally while further solidifying her legacy as one of the greatest offensive performers in MSU Denver softball history.
With multiple all-region and All-America honors now attached to her senior campaign, Prieto's 2026 season will be remembered as one of the finest individual years ever produced by a Roadrunner.
