@RoadrunnerSB: Prieto Recognized on NFCA All-American Second Team Squad

DENVER — The postseason accolades continued to pile up for MSU Denver softball Wednesday morning as senior designated player Cheyenne Prieto earned NFCA Second Team All-America honors, cementing her place among the nation's elite players following a historic 2026 season.

Prieto becomes one of a select group of Roadrunners to earn All-America recognition and caps off one of the most decorated individual seasons in program history.

The honor adds to an already impressive postseason resume for the senior, who previously earned First Team All-RMAC honors, First Team D2CCA All-South Central Region recognition and First Team NFCA All-South Central Region accolades.

Throughout the spring, Prieto established herself as one of the top offensive players in NCAA Division II, producing record-setting numbers while helping lead the Roadrunners through another successful season.

The senior led the RMAC in both on-base percentage (.597) and OPS (1.408) while ranking second in batting average (.476) and third in slugging percentage (.811). She also finished among the conference leaders in hits, home runs and walks, including a league-best 42 walks during the season.

Her consistency and plate discipline made her one of the most difficult hitters to retire in the region and helped fuel the Roadrunners' offense throughout the year.

Prieto's remarkable campaign also left a permanent mark on the MSU Denver record book.

Her .597 on-base percentage established a new single-season school record, while her 42 walks also set a new program standard. Additionally, her .476 batting average ranks third all-time in school history and her .811 slugging percentage ranks fifth among the best single-season marks ever recorded by a Roadrunner.

The NFCA All-America honor serves as the crowning achievement of a season filled with milestones and recognition, placing Prieto among the top players in Division II softball and further solidifying her legacy as one of the most accomplished offensive performers in MSU Denver history.

With accolades spanning the conference, regional and national levels, Prieto's senior season will be remembered as one of the finest individual campaigns ever produced by a Roadrunner and a fitting conclusion to an outstanding collegiate career.
