History at the Colorado Premier Challenge:
Metro State and Regis have hosted the tournament since 1996. During that time, the Roadrunners have gone 24-28, playing four matches each year. Metro State won the tournament in 2003 and placed third in the Gold Division in 2005. Last season, Metro State went 0-4 after going just 1-3 the year before. The last Roadrunner named to the all-tournament team was Julie Green in 2006.
Gabe Curtis (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) and Sheena McLaughlin were both named to the team in 2005. Devon Herron is the only Roadrunner to earn MVP honors, earning those in 2003.
Hendricks Hits a Milestone, Close to Another:
Head coach
Debbie Hendricks reached her 200th win at Metro State on Saturday, Aug. 29 against No. 16 Florida Southern. She is entering her 10th season at the helm of the Roadrunners volleyball program.
Hendricks is also closing in on 400 wins for her overall coaching career. She enters this weekend at 397 as she begins her 18th season as a head volleyball coach at the collegiate level. Prior to Metro State, Hendricks spent two years at Wayland Baptist before heading to West Texas A&M for six seasons. When she reaches the 400-win plateau, she will become just the 20th active Division II coach with 400 career wins.
