BILLINGS, Mont. - Metro State's women's basketball team topped Rocky Mountain (Mont.) 67-49 on Monday evening in Billings, Mont. The win improved the Roadrunners to 2-0, while RMC dropped to 4-3.
Tawny Drexler (Golden, Colo./Golden H.S.) had a game-high 16 points and nine rebounds to lead the Roadrunners, hitting 8-of-10 from the floor.
Cassondra Bratton (Arvada, Colo./Pomona H.S.) added 15 points and had seven rebounds, while
Alyssa Benson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Minnetonka H.S.) scored 13 off the bench, hitting 6-of-9 from the floor.
Jasmine Cervantes (Johnstown, Colo./Berthoud H.S.) and
Emily Wood (Louisville, Colo./Monarch H.S.) each led the team with three assists. Cervantes added seven points and had three.
Metro State shot 48.3 percent from the floor and hit 3-of-9 from the outside. The Roadrunners also held a 46-28 rebounding advantage.
Metro State will host Nova Southeastern (Fla.) at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26 for its next game. It will be a part of the Metro State Thanksgiving Classic. Western State and Simon Fraser (B.C.) will play at 1 p.m. that day.
