Metro State Swept at No. 26 New Mexico Highlands

LAS VEGAS, N.M. -
Metro State dropped a pair of games at New Mexico Highlands on Saturday, falling 8-4 and 4-1 on the road, slipping to second place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Mountain Division.  The Roadrunners fell to 9-8 overall and 6-3 in the RMAC, while the Cowboys moved ahead of Metro State and are now 16-5 overall and 7-2 in the RMAC.

Game One
New Mexico Highlands took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and never trailed the rest of the game.  Everett Altman (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) led off the third with a double and later scored on a ground out by Mike Coffey (Highlands Ranch, Colo./ThunderRidge H.S.) as the Roadrunners cut the lead to 2-1.

NMHU scored in the bottom of the inning and again in the fifth, before adding four in the seventh to lead 8-1.

Metro State scored three times in the eighth, two coming on a single to center by Bradshaw Perry (Aurora, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.).

Ted Jamison (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain H.S.) suffered the loss, lasting 5.2 innings and allowing three earned runs.

Game Two
Perry gave a strong outing on the mound, allowing three earned runs in 5.2 innings, but the offense managed just three hits and one unearned run against Cowboy starter Danny Brown.

The Roadrunners scored their only run in the fifth after a one-out walk to Cody Henry (Thornton, Colo./Legacy H.S.) and a fielding error later in the inning.
