Game 2 Box Score

DENVER, Colo. -
Metro State's David Fox (Lakewood, Colo./Faith Christian H.S.) had six hits in game one to tie a school record, leading the Roadrunners to a split with Regis on Sunday at Regis. The Roadrunners took the first game 12-8, but fell 11-3 in game two. Metro State is now 12-13 this season and 9-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while RU is 10-15 overall and 6-10 in the RMAC.

Game One
Fox went 6-for-6 at the plate to tie the school's single game record for hits. He also belted two home runs, drove in five and scored three times.

Three others have recorded six hits in a game in Metro State history: Mike Hoefs (2006), Rusty Miller (1987) and Doug Montgomery (1987).

Bradshaw Perry (Aurora, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.) also had three hits and Zach Krueger (Holyoke, Colo./Holyoke H.S.) and Jordan Stouffer (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) each had two.

Fox drove in Krueger with a single up the middle in the first, but Regis scored three times in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. Metro State drew three walks and collected three hits in the second to score four times. Fox and Stouffer each had RBI singles during the inning.

Stouffer led off the fifth with a home run to left-center, giving the Roadrunners a 6-3 lead. Jacob Trimble (Danville, Ill./Schlarman H.S.) later scored on a fielder's choice by Chris Redding (Northglenn, Colo./Northglenn H.S.) to push the lead to 7-3.

Fox and Perry led off the sixth with back-to-back home runs. Regis got one run back in the bottom of the inning on a bases loaded walk with one out. But a double play ended the inning.

Fox drove in Krueger with a two-run home run to right-center with one out in the seventh after Krueger brought David Kaplan (Colorado Springs, Colo./Doherty H.S.) in with a single as the Roadrunners took a 12-4 lead.

The Rangers scored three unearned runs in the eighth and added a leadoff homer in the ninth by Max Regalado. But reliever Sean Walter (Wiggins, Colo./Wiggins H.S.) retired the final three batters to end the game.

Jake Draeger (Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis H.S.) picked up the win, allowing three earned runs in six innings, while scattering seven hits with five strikeouts.

Game Two
Fox continued his hot hitting with a two-run home run in the top of the first as he brought home Krueger. The Regis scored the next 11 runs as the Metro State offense fizzled, collecting three hits over the next five innings.

Everett Altman (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) led off the seventh with single and scored on a bases loaded walk to Perry for Metro State's final run.

Perry suffered the loss on the mound, allowing three earned runs in 2.1 innings. The junior righthander allowed only one hit, but walked four. Walter pitched a scoreless sixth inning in relief.

Metro State will host Colorado State-Pueblo for a four-game series beginning on Thursday at 3 p.m.
