DENVER - Metro State committed four errors to lead to five unearned runs as the host Roadrunners fell 9-5 to Colorado State-Pueblo on Sunday in the final game of a four-game series. Metro State dropped to 9-7 overall and 6-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSUP improved to 12-9 and 7-5. The two teams split a four-game series this weekend.
The Roadrunners fell apart in the second inning, committing all four of their errors as the ThunderWolves scored six times.
David Fox (Lakewood, Colo./Faith Christian H.S.) drove in
Eric Lopez (Hayden, Ariz./Hayden H.S.) with a single up the middle for the first run for the Roadrunners. Fox added a solo home run in the fifth.
CSUP scored three more times in the seventh to take a 9-2 lead.
Metro State scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Brennan Brown (Thornton, Colo./Legacy H.S.) had an RBI single and scored on a two-run single by
Kevin Coughlin (Golden, Colo./Golden H.S.).
Zach Cleveland (Golden, Colo./Golden H.S.) suffered the loss, allowing just one earned run in five innings.
Metro State will play at Colorado Christian next weekend.
