GOLDEN, Colo. –
Metro State dropped two softball games on Friday to be eliminated from the RMAC Tournament in Golden, Colo. The Roadrunners fell 2-0 to Regis in the morning game and dropped their elimination game 9-0 in six innings to Colorado Mines. Metro State fell to 34-16 this season, suffering consecutive shutout losses for the first time since 1987.

This will be the first year since 2008 that a team other than Metro State will win the RMAC Tournament.

Regis Recap
Regis righthander Bianca Holley blanked the Roadrunners on just six hits.

The Rangers scored in the top of the second and the top of the third innings. Their first run was unearned after a dropped pop that would have been the third out of the second inning. Regis catcher Alisa Heronema opened the third with a double down the left field line and scored on a sacrifice fly to center.

Metro State had a runner thrown out at home to end the third inning and another thrown out at home to end the sixth. Roadrunner center fielder Molly Clark (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood H.S.) gunned down a runner of her own at home in the fifth inning for the second out to keep the deficit at two.

Aubree Maul (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) had two of Metro State's six hits in the game, including a double in the second.

Julia Diehl (Littleton, Colo./Dakota Ridge H.S.) took the loss, allowing just one earned run in seven innings.

Amber Roundtree (Lakewood, Colo./Faith Christian H.S.) finally struck out for the first time this season when she was called out on strikes for the second out of the third inning. It was her 155th at bat of the season.

Metro State won all four regular season games between the Roadrunners and Regis.

Mines Recap
The bats continued to stay cold as the Roadrunners again managed just six hits again in the shutout loss.

Mines scored a pair of runs in the first, second and third innings each, and scored a single run in the fourth for a 7-0 lead. The Orediggers hit four triples in the first three innings, taking advantage of the 240-foot fences at Golden High School.

Offensively, Metro State loaded the bases in the second with nobody out, but could not push a run across as CSM righthander Kelly Unkrich escaped the jam with a fielder's choice and two fly outs.

Caitlin Jenks (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) took the loss, lasting just two batters into the second inning. She was removed after Mines opened the second with consecutive triples.

Metro State will await the NCAA Tournament selection on Sunday to find out its first round opponent. The Roadrunners were ranked fifth this past week in the Central Region and the top eight teams will all make the postseason.
