Box Score DENVER - Shursteen Sharpe scored her first career goal with 11:34 left as No. 16 Metro State won 2-1 at No. 23 Regis University on Sunday in Denver. The Roadrunners moved to 9-2-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while Regis fell to 7-5-1 and 5-3-1.
Sharpe scored on a short breakaway up the right side of the box after a crossing pass from the deep left side by
Tess Hagenlock.
The Rangers had an early lead in the game, when Danielle Dageenakis scored following a free kick at 23:02.
MSU tied it 13 minutes later on a header by
Nicole Pollack off
Abby Rolph's corner kick. The Roadrunners had an opportunity to take the lead just minutes into the second half as
Karisa Price's open shot from inside the box ripped off the crossbar.
Both teams had several opportunities to take the lead in the first 30 minutes of the second half before Sharpe's winner.
Jordan Simkins made six saves to earn the win for the Roadrunners, but her shutout streak ended at 455 minutes with Dageenakis' goal.
The win marked the first time since Oct. 12 last season, also against Regis, that Metro has rallied to win after trailing 1-0 in a game.
The Roadrunners will host Colorado Christian at 1 p.m. on Friday.
