DENVER -
Metro State's softball team split a doubleheader at home on Sunday, winning game one 3-2 and falling 5-3 in game two against Colorado State-Pueblo. The Roadrunners are now 7-15 overall and 4-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and CSUP is 9-7 and 7-5.

Game One
Aubree Maul (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) scattered seven hits and one walk to earn her seventh win of the season. She also struck out three and allowed just one earned run.

The ThunderWolves took the early lead in the top of the first as a leadoff walk scored on a one-out single by Justine Bosio.

Metro tied the game in the third. Susie Oury (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) led off with a single to right and Kasey Nichols (Springville, Calif./Porterville H.S.) drove her in with a two-out base hit to right.

Chelsea Brew (Colorado Springs/Rampart H.S.) hit a two-run homer to left-center with nobody out, scoring Maul, for a 3-1 lead in the fourth.

CSUP pushed across an unearned run in the fifth, but Maul retired the final six ThunderWolves batters she faced to close out the game.

Nichols had two of Metro State's six hits.

Game Two
CSU-Pueblo scored twice in the top of the seventh to break a 3-3 tie in the 5-3 win.

The ThunderWolves scored three unearned runs in the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead.

Maul connected on a two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the fourth, scoring Brittney Padilla (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo Central H.S.) and Nichols, to trim the lead to 3-2.

Annalyse Garcia (Frederick, Colo./Frederick H.S.) tied the game with a home run to center to lead off the fifth to even the score. Garcia transferred to Metro State from CSUP last season.

The ThunderWolves started the top of the seventh with three straight singles to break the tie.

The loss spoiled Jordyn Randolph (Arvada, Colo./Pomona H.S.)'s bid for her first win this season. The junior college transfer allowed just two earned runs in seven innings.

Metro State will hit the road for a doubleheader at Nebraska-Kearney on Wednesday.
