The loss ended the season for the Roadrunners at 25-7, while the Falcons improved to 28-7 and will face Bellarmine (Ky.) on Thursday in the semifinals at 9:30 p.m. (EDT).

Metro State held a 60-52 lead with 4:49 left after two free throws by Paul Brotherson (Sydney, Australia/Westfields Sports High). The Roadrunners still led 62-56 with 2:42 to go when seven straight points handed the Falcons their first lead since 14:50 was left in the first half.

Antoine Davis put them in front 63-62 with 1:15 left, scoring a layup from the right block to tie, and then hitting the ensuing free throw after he was fouled.

Demetrius Miller (Flint, Mich./Flint Central H.S.) made 1-of-2 at the line with 45.8 seconds left to tie the score. With 22.6 left, Drico Hightower made another basket, putting the Falcons back in front.

After missing his first four free throw attempts of the night, he converted his final four, including both with 3.1 seconds left as Montevallo took the 67-65 lead.

Brotherson's inbounds pass to the opposite end of the floor was intercepted by the Falcons as they held on for the comeback victory.

Reggie Evans (Aurora, Colo./Rangeview H.S.) led all scorers with 20 points for Metro, hitting 8-of-18 from the floor. Miller scored 16 on 5-of-8 shooting, including three 3-pointers. The senior Brotherson poured in 13 points off the bench and had 12 rebounds for his first career double-double in his final game. Morse finished with eight points and eight rebounds.

The Roadrunners shot just 37.1 percent for the game, while Montevallo hit 47.3 percent. But 21 offensive rebounds led to a 26-11 edge on second-chance points for Metro.

The Roadrunners started the game down 5-0 after two quick field goals by the Falcons, but back-to-back 3-pointrs by Miller tied the game at 8-8 just under three minutes into the game.

Trailing 14-13, Brotherson started an 11-0 run with a putback tip-in and a free throw for a 3-point play, and finished the run with a 3-pointer from the top of the key as Metro led 22-14 with 11:24 left in the half.

The Roadrunners stretched that lead to nine points with 8:06 to go on a layup from Morse off an inbounds pass, but Montevallo closed the half with six straight points to close the gap to 34-33. UM shot 53.8 percent in the first half, including 5-of-10 from the outside, while the Roadrunners made just 5-of-15 from 3-point range.
