Softball: Oury continues torrid pace as Roadrunners rout Wildcats

Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Metro State's hot bats continued on Sunday from Saturday night, surging the Roadrunners to an 11-2 win in five innings over Central Washington to close out the Desert Stinger tournament in Las Vegas. The Roadrunners improved to 6-4 on the season. CWU fell to 0-5.

Metro State was coming off a 17-10 win over Montana State-Billings on Saturday, in which MSU had 23 hits, two shy of the school single-game record.

Susie Oury (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) continued her torrid pace, going 3-for-3 on Sunday with three runs scored, two runs batted in, a home run and a stolen base. Amanda Taney (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.) and Chelsea Brew (Colorado Springs/Rampart H.S.) also each had two hits. Brew and Stephanie Dunham (Rio Rancho, N.M./Rio Rancho H.S.) each hit a home run as well.

MSU actually trailed 2-0 after the top of the first, but starter Brittany Moss (Northglenn, Colo./Northglenn H.S.) settled down to throw a gem. She allowed two runs in five innings and struck out two.

The Roadrunners quickly jumped on top, scoring three times in the first. Brew had an RBI double and Annalyse Garcia (Frederick, Colo./Frederick H.S.) provided an RBI single.

Kelsey Tillery (Windsor, Colo./Windsor H.S.) ripped a two-run double in the second for a 5-2 lead.

MSU put the game away with six in the fourth. Dunham and Oury each hit two-run home runs and Brew had a solo shot.

Metro State opens Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play at home on Feb. 23 against Colorado Christian.
