Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. - Colorado State-Pueblo earned a 9-2 win over Metro State on Friday to open a four-game series in Pueblo to begin Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play for both teams. The Roadrunners fell to to 4-6 overall, while the ThunderWolves improved to 4-5.

For the first time this season, Metro State never led in the game, falling behind 6-0 after five innings to chase MSU Denver starter Patrick Gojan (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista H.S.) after surrendering 10 hits.

The Roadrunners finally pushed two runs across in the sixth as Mitch Gibbons (Franktown, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.) scored on an infield hit by Alex Schrupp (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) and Jacob Nelson (Lakewood, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) came home on a ground out by Danny Miller (Denver/Denver Christian H.S.).

Markie Ortivez (Littleton, Colo./Heritage H.S.) was the bright spot offensively for Metro State, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Darryl Baca (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) was 1-for-2 and was hit by a pitch twice.

The two teams will play a doubleheader in Pueblo starting at noon on Saturday.
