Box Score 2 DENVER - Stephanie Dunham (Rio Rancho, N.M./Rio Rancho H.S.) hit a two-run walk-off home run to give Metro State a 7-6 win over Regis University on Sunday as the Roadrunners went 1-1 on the day after losing 9-0 to No. 12 Colorado Mines in five innings. MSU Denver is now 8-13 overall and 2-9 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Game One
CSM righthander Kelly Unkrich shut down the Roadrunners, limiting them to two hits and striking out eight without allowing a walk.
Dani Sandel (Omaha, Neb./Westside H.S.) had a single and
Mary Towner (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) hit a double for MSU Denver's offensive production.
Game Two
Susie Oury (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) went 3-for-3 with a home run as the Roadrunners rallied four times from a deficit to tie or take a lead.
Oury led off the bottom of the first, tying the game at 1-1 with a home run to left field.
Trailing 2-1 in the third,
Chelsea Brew (Colorado Springs/Rampart H.S.) singled home Oury to again tie the game.
The Rangers went ahead 3-2 in the top of the fourth, but this time Metro State took the lead. The Roadrunners scored three times in the bottom of the inning with two outs. They put together four straight singles by
Amanda Taney (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.), Oury, Sandel and
Kelsey Tillery (Windsor, Colo./Windsor H.S.) to account for three scores.
Regis came back with three in the fifth inning to lead 6-5. That score remained until the bottom of the seventh.
After Brew flew out to center to start the inning,
Annalyse Garcia (Frederick, Colo./Frederick H.S.) was hit by a pitch before Dunham connected on her walk-off blast to center field.
Brittany Moss (Northglenn, Colo./Northglenn H.S.) earned the win, allowing one run in three innings of relief.
Metro State will host Fort Hays State (Kan.) in non-conference action on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
