Box Score 2 GOLDEN, Colo. - Justin Arceneaux (Chino, Calif./Don Antonio Lugo H.S.) allowed one unearned run in game two to give Metro State a split at Colorado Mines on Friday, with the Roadrunners dropping game one 8-1 before earning a 3-1 victory in game two. MSU Denver is now 8-14 overall and 4-8 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSM is 7-13 and 4-8.
Game One
Metro State jumped out to a 1-0 lead when
Sean Reeves (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) scored on a two-out single by
Mitch Gibbons (Franktown, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.) in the top of the second. But that was the Roadrunners. CSM scored seven runs over the next three innings to lead 7-1 after five innings.
Gibbons led MSU Denver with two hits.
Game Two
Arceneaux allowed a career-low three hits in his seven-inning complete game while striking out three.
Offensively, he was supported by two hits each from
Alex Schrupp (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) and
Danny Miller (Denver/Denver Christian H.S.).
Schrupp led off the second with a double down the right field line and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Andrew Paust (Parker, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.).
Tied 1-1 heading into the sixth, Metro State scored twice for the deciding runs. Paust singled home
Jeff Levett (Parker, Colo./Chaparral H.S.) with two outs and Miller brought in Schrupp with another single to account for the two runs.
Arceneaux induced a double play to pitch around a one-out single in the sixth and ended the game with a strikeout in the seventh after allowing a two-out walk as snow began falling late in the game.
Due to the snow, Saturday's games will be canceled.
