Game One
The Orediggers jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three innings, using a six-run second inning.
Metro State scored three times in the top of the fourth, highlighted by an RBI double by
Stephanie Dunham (Rio Rancho, N.M./Rio Rancho H.S.) and a run-scoring single by
Amanda Taney (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.).
Chelsea Brew (Colorado Springs/Rampart H.S.) added a two-run home run in the fifth.
CSM ended the game in the bottom of the fifth with a grand slam by Courtney Derus.
Brew and Taney each had two of Metro State's six hits.
Game Two
Jessica Severinsen struck out seven and allowed just two hits--both by
Kelsey Tillery (Windsor, Colo./Windsor H.S.)--to lead the Mavericks to the shutout win. Brew also reached base twice for the Roadrunners, drawing the team's only walk and getting hit by a pitch.
The three teams were scheduled to play each other again on Saturday, but those games will be canceled due to the winter storm in the Denver area.
