Box Score 2 DENVER- Metro State fell to Adams State in both games on Saturday. The losses dropped the Roadrunners to 12-23 on the season and 5-18 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The wins increased the Grizzlies record to 14-12 overall and 13-8 in RMAC play.
Game One:
Metro State fell to Adams State 8-2 in the first game of the day.
Adams State got off strong by scoring three runs in the top of the 1st inning on runs by Richins, Ecsedy, and Archambau.
The Grizzlies added two more runs in the top of the 2nd inning on runs by Ecsedy and Lovato off of Archambau's single to center field.
Metro State responded by getting on the board in the bottom of the 3rd inning when
Susie Oury (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) and
Dani Sandel (Omaha, Neb./Westside H.S.) scored to cut the lead to 5-2. Oury reached base on a walk. Sandel then reached base on a fielder's choice, however, Oury was able to beat the throw out at 2nd base leaving two runners on 1st and 2nd base with only one out.
Kelsey Tillery (Windsor, Colo./Windsor H.S.) was the next batter and hit a single to center field scoring both Oury and Sandel.
Unfortunately for the Roadrunners they were unable to score another run while Adams State added three more runs to win 8-2.
Game Two:
In the second game of the double-header Metro State fell to Adams State 10-6 in eight innings.
Adams State again got the scoring going early as the Grizzlies scored two runs in the top of the 1st inning off runs from Lovato and Ecsedy.
Metro State responded in the bottom of the 1st inning when the Roadrunners scored three runs to take the lead 3-2. The Roadrunners scored all three runs off of
Annalyse Garcia (Frederick, Colo./Frederick H.S.)'s 3-run home run scoring
Chelsea Brew (Colorado Springs/Rampart H.S.) and Tillery.
Adams State took the lead in the top of the 2nd inning when the Grizzlies scored two runs to take a 4-3 lead off runs from DeLorenzo and Chaney scored.
The Grizzlies added another two runs in the top of the 3rd inning off runs again by Chaney and DeLorenzo.
In the bottom of the 3rd inning Metro State added another run when Brew knocked Oury in from 2nd base to cut the lead to 6-4.
In the bottom of the 4th inning the Roadrunners tied the game up when
Mary Towner (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) and
Brandi Roundtree (Lakewood, Colo./Soroco H.S.) both scored for Metro State. Towner scored on a
Amanda Taney (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.)'s RBI single to left field. Roundtree scored on an error by Adams State which allowed Sandel to reach 1st base.
After seven innings, the game was all tied at 6-6 to the game went to extra innings. Unfortunately for the Roadrunners the extra innings were not kind for the Roadrunners who gave up four runs in the top of the 8th inning. Metro State was unable to respond so it lost 10-6 to Adams State in eight innings.
Metro State will be back in action on Sunday at 11 a.m. when the Roadrunners host Adams State for another double-header at Auraria Field.
