Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Metro State was eliminated from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament 8-0 by No. 2/3 Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction, Colo. on Friday. The Roadrunners ended their season at 20-27 overall, while CMU improved to 42-8.

The Mavericks jumped out early, leading 5-0 after three innings to chase MSU Denver starter Nick Hammett (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield H.S.).

Justin Arceneaux (Chino, Calif./Don Antonio Lugo H.S.) provided 6.1 strong innings of relief, allowing three runs with four strikeouts and one walk. CMU got to him once in the fifth, again in the eighth and one more in the ninth. Carlos Luzon (Caracas, Venezuela/U.E. Instituto Escuela) retired the final batter as the two seniors combined for 6.2 innings of relief in their final game.

For the second day in a row, the Roadrunners were victimized by a complete game pitching performance, this one coming from RMAC pitcher of the year Matt Williams. The senior righthander scattered six hits and one walk, while striking out six.

Zac Baldini (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain H.S.) tagged him for a pair of doubles in three at bats, but he was stranded on base both times.

Metro State will say goodbye to seven seniors, including Arceneaux, Luzon, Erik Cammall (San Diego, Calif./St. Augustine H.S.), Forrest Carpenter (Longmont, Colo./Niwot H.S.), Alex Schrupp (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.), Markie Ortivez (Littleton, Colo./Heritage H.S.) and Jacob Nelson (Lakewood, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.).
