Box Score 2 LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Kelsey Tillery (Windsor, Colo./Windsor H.S.) combined to go 6-for-8 with five runs batted in as Metro State won 10-2 in five innings over New Mexico Highlands and 9-4 at Colorado Christian in a doubleheader at CCU in Lakewood, Colo. The Roadrunners improved to 10-4 overall this season and 5-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. NMHU dropped to 5-13 and CCU fell to 9-10 and 3-5.
Tillery was 4-for-4 against the Cowgirls and drove in three runs with a double.
Susie Oury (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs against New Mexico Highlands as the Roadrunners had 16 hits in the five-inning game.
Dani Sandel (Omaha, Neb./Westside H.S.),
Kaylynn Harmon (Erie, Colo./Erie H.S.),
Aubree Maul (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) and
Britney Thomas (Cheyenne, Wyo./East H.S.) each had two hits.
Harmon provided a home run in a five-run second inning, helping the Roadrunners overcome a 2-0 deficit after the top of the first inning. She also had a game-ending triple in the fifth that scored Tillery for the 10th run.
Against CCU, it was Maul's pitching that was the difference as she allowed just one earned run in seven innings, giving up just three hits and two walks, while striking out five.
Offensively, Tillery provided a spark again with two hits and a two-run home run. Maul and
Colissa Bakovich (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) each had two hits.
Again, Metro State overcame a 2-0 deficit, this time scoring three runs in the top of the third to take a 6-2 lead.
Metro State will host Regis and Western New Mexico in a three-team pod on Saturday at Auraria Field. Games begin at 11 a.m. both days.
