Box Score 2 DENVER - Metro State dropped a doubleheader at home with Colorado Mines on Friday, falling 6-4 and 5-3. The Roadrunners fell to 3-13 overall and 2-10 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. CSM improved to 7-12 and 5-7.
Defensive miscues cost MSU Denver as it committed four errors in each game, leading to five unearned runs. That spoiled a strong outing by

Nick Hammett (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield H.S.) gave up three earned runs in five innings in Game One.
Kevin Hand (Highlands Ranch, Colo./ThunderRidge H.S.) provided a career-high four innings in relief of Hammett and did not allow a run, giving up just two hits and striking out four.
Darryl Baca (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) was a combined 4-for-8 in the two games, including a home run in the second.
Gavin Purvis (Albuquerque, N.M./Cibola H.S.) also homered in the second game.
The two teams are scheduled for another doubleheader on Saturday at Auraria Field.
