Baseball: Thill's strong effort not enough as Roadrunners fall twice in Alamosa

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ALAMOSA, Colo. - Metro State dropped a doubleheader at Adams State on Sunday, falling 17-7 in Game One and 2-1 in Game Two. The Roadrunners fell to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while ASU improved to 6-11 and 4-3 in the RMAC.

Mike Thill (Littleton, Colo./Columbine H.S.) put together a strong outing in Game Two on the mound, allowing just runs and striking out seven, while pitching all six innings. But the offense came up short, connecting for just one run on three hits.

The Roadrunners fell behind 17-3 after seven innings in Game One, but pushed across four in the ninth.

Mitch Gibbons (Franktown, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.) finished 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and a stolen base. Reilly Mau (Longmont, Colo./Longmont H.S.) and Danny Miller (Denver/Denver Christian H.S.) each matched Gibbons' line.

Lefthanders Kevin Hand (Highlands Ranch, Colo./ThunderRidge H.S.) and Cameron Stroup (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) combined for two shutout innings of relief.
