Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. – The Metropolitan State University of Denver baseball was unable to overcome a fast start by No. 20 Colorado Mesa and ultimately fell 13-4 in the first game of a four game series on Friday evening in Grand Junction, Colo.

Alex Walker (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) went 3-for-4 in the game.
Metro State struck first in the top of the first inning when Darryl Bacca grounded out to the shortstop, scoring sophomore
Nick Comito (Lakewood, Colo./Mullen H.S.). However, Colorado Mesa was able to put nine runs up on the scoreboard in the bottom half of the inning. Junior
Nick Hammett (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield H.S.) started the game and surrendered eight runs, seven earned, on six hits. Hammett was unable to record an out in the inning before redshirt freshman
Ryan Baca (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) came on in relief. Ryan Bacca pitched six and two-thirds innings striking out four batters while allowing eight hits. Freshman
Nic Hansen (Monument, Colo./Palmer Ridge H.S.) finished the game allowing no runs in the final one and one-third inning.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Saturday, April 12 for a doubleheader against Colorado Mesa beginning at 1 p.m. MT in Grand Junction, Colo.
