Box Score 2 DENVER - Kaylynn Harmon (Erie, Colo./Erie H.S.) homered in her first two at bats on Friday as Metro State split a doubleheader, winning 12-4 before falling 9-1 to Colorado Mines at Auraria Field on Friday. The Roadrunners are now 23-11 overall and 17-8 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSM is 16-23 and 12-18.
Harmon hit a two-run home run in the first inning and a grand slam in the second, setting the tone for MSU Denver's six-inning win. She also hit a double in Game Two and finished the day 3-for-5 with six runs batted in and four runs scored.
Kelsey Tillery (Windsor, Colo./Windsor H.S.) led the Roadrunners with three of the team's 13 hits in Game One, adding her Division II-leading 23rd double of the season.
Mary Towner (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) and
Cassidy Smith (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) each had a pair of hits as well.
Towner hit a two-run double in the fourth and
Chelsea Brew (Colorado Springs/Rampart H.S.) added an RBI single for a three-run inning. Starting pitcher
Aubree Maul (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) had an RBI double in the sixth and Towner scored to end the game after a throwing error by the Orediggers.
Maul earned the win, pitching all six innings.
Colorado Mines took advantage of a pair of Metro State errors and had 11 hits in its five-inning win in Game Two.
Britney Thomas (Cheyenne, Wyo./East H.S.), Harmon and Maul combined for MSU Denver's three hits in the game. Harmon scored on a single by Maul in the fourth inning after a leadoff double for the only run.
The two teams will play on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Auraria Field.
