Box Score DENVER - Metro State earned a 6-5 win over Adams State on Sunday in the final game played at Auraria Field. The Roadrunners, who won their third consecutive game and improved to 13-26 this season, will move across campus to The Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver next season. Construction for the new facility began last week.
Freshman
Marcus Bean (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) sparked the offense, going 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and a triple.
Kris Lalk (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain H.S.) earned the win in relief, pitching 3.1 shutout innings, scattering two hits with three strikeouts.
Mitch Gibbons (Franktown, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.), who had the game-winning RBI single in the eighth inning, also went 3-for-4.
Nick Comito (Lakewood, Colo./Mullen H.S.) and
Alex Walker (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) had two hits each. Walker also threw out two runners at home plate from left field.
The Roadrunners scored three times in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-1 lead.
Sean Reeves (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) tied the game on a wild pitch and Bean delivered a two-run single through the left side with two outs.
The Grizzlies pushed across four runs in the top of the sixth, taking advantage of a pair of errors, and led 5-3.
Metro State got one run back in the seventh on another single by Bean, scoring Walker. MSU Denver took the lead with two in the eighth inning.
Darryl Baca (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) led off with a single to center and scored on a ground out by
Zac Baldini (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain H.S.) to tie the game. With two outs, Gibbons singled through the right side of the infield, scoring Reeves for the winning run.
Lalk breezed through the first two batters in the ninth. Senior
Eli Ford (Casper, Wyo./Kelly Walsh H.S.) came on for the final out, getting a ground out after an error put the tying run on base.
The Roadrunners will wrap up the season next weekend at New Mexico Highlands.
